Chegada a Quito

Day 1

Arrive at Quito International Airport. Transfer to the hotel and accommodation

Reserva Yanacocha

Day 2

Departing from Quito at 5:30 AM, we head to Yanacocha Reserve, known for its Tawny and Rufous Antpittas, as well as other bird species like Chestnut-crowned Antpitta and Ocellated Tapaculo. Along the 2 km Inca trail, we'll encounter various bird flocks and hummingbird feeders, attracting species like superciliaried Hemispingus and sword-billed hummingbirds. Lunch at the reserve precedes our journey along the historic Nono-Mindo Road towards Bellavista Lodge

Tandayapa Valley

Day 3

Today's birdwatching excursion covers upper Tandayapa and Mindo Valleys, offering sightings of various species including Beryl Spangled Tanager, Gorgeted Sunangel, and Crimson-rumped Toucanet. Accommodation and meals provided at Bellavista Cloud Forest

Paz Reserve to Canandé Reserve

Day 4

Today, we embark on an early trip to Paz de las Aves, where hand-feeding of elusive species like the Antpittas is a highlight. Witness Andean Cock of the Rock displays at sunrise, then head to Canandé Reserve for diverse bird sightings

Canandé Reserve

Day 5-6

Explore the biodiverse Canandé region, two hours from Pedro Vicente Maldonado. Set in the Chocó forest, the area boasts 62 bird species, including rarities like the Scarlet-breasted Dacnis and Great Green Macaw. Spot felines, monkeys, and diverse amphibians. Canandé Reserve, managed by Fundación Jocotoco, protects this endangered hotspot

Back to Quito

Day 7

Leaving Canandé Reserve, we'll head back to Quito after a morning of birding. En route, enjoy sightings at Guaycapi or Sachatamia bird feeders amidst the vibrant protected forest, teeming with diverse wildlife

Chakana Reserve

Day 8

Today's journey leads to Chakana Reserve amidst stunning Ecuadorian High Andes landscapes. Adjacent to Antisana National Park, the reserve offers breathtaking vistas and diverse birdlife, including Andean Condors, Giant Hummingbirds, Ecuadorian Hillstars, and more. Explore the Paramo's unique flora and landscapes, with a chance to spot the elusive Spectacled Bear. Enjoy a traditional lunch at Casa Antisanilla before returning to Quito in the afternoon
