The Middle of the World

Ecuador, which is located in South America, is considered as one of the smallest countries in the region, however, this tiny yet beautiful country has 4 regions, each individually characterized by unique weather, wildlife, and customs.

Each region is divided by the mentioned characteristics: Sierra, which are the highlands, and dry weather is considered as the best Ecuadorian Andean Highlights, there are also the other regions, Amazonia which is part of the Amazon rainforest, Costa, And Galápagos, all of that are considered unique places.

One of the main highlights of the Ecuadorian Andean region is that you can enjoy a privileged location, you can visit the Monument of the Center of the world place that is considered one of a kind and that by interesting fact is crossed by the Equatorial line also called The Middle of the World, which gives us a certain very peculiar condition, another beautiful part of this Andean city, especially in the capital city of Quito where the weather is very unpredictable so make sure to always carry with you a jacket, also mentioning that this Andean city was also being honored as one the UNESCO World Heritage because of its beautiful historical buildings and one of the worlds best-preserved historic centers.

We can consider that another natural attraction that this beautiful country gives us is the location, which allows us to be in the different regions in a short drive and visit such places as the Cotopaxi National Park, Quilotoa Lagoon, Pululahua Crater, Baños de Agua Santa, the Cloud forest of Mindo, Chimborazo volcano among others, these places allow you to enjoy different climates, take breathtaking pictures that are worth a million words, have unique views of the Ecuadorian Andean highlights, besides the great possibility to observe the great diversity of animals and plants that characterize the region.

Tour Plan

Day 01
Transfer in to the Hotel in Quito

We will pick you up from the airport and drive you to the hotel. Depending on the time when you arrive, we can include an activity for 2 or 3 hours. If you have any problem, you can contact your agent in Quito.

Accommodation: Hotel Casa Sol or similar. 

Meals: None.

Day 02
City Tour

We will pick you up from your hotel early in the morning, and we will visit downtown of Quito, which has many beautiful churches and squares. The streets are cobbled and narrow, surrounded by baroque-style houses that transport us to the colonial age. A few minutes from downtown lies El Panecillo, a natural viewpoint, whose main attraction is the statue of La Virgen de Quito and from where we can see the whole city. Later, we will eat a great lunch and continue to Mitad del Mundo (middle of the World), the Intiñán Museum, where you can carry out scientific experiments and learn more about the history of the towns that inhabited the place. Finally, we return to the Hotel.

Day 03
Trip to Mindo

Our guide will pick you up from your hotel. Prepare to be amazed by the colorful attractions of Mindo where we visit a beautiful Waterfall and then head to a butterflies farm where you will have the chance to encounter hundreds of different species of native butterflies. Then, we will enjoy a tasty organic chocolate-factory tour where we can see the steps of the making of a chocolate and the products that can be created along the way. By the afternoon we will drive to Otavalo for 3.5 hours approximately.

Day 04
Visit Otavalo

Our guide will pick you up from your hotel. Discover the most famous artesian indigenous market in Ecuador, the Otavalo market. We will visit the Condor Park if it's possible (depending on the days) where our guide will provide an explanation about the local indigenous culture. We continue to the town of Cotacachi, then onward to beautiful Cuicocha lagoon. By the afternoon, we will return and have a stop in Cayambe where we will taste the town’s famous bizcochos (biscuits cooked on fire) and admire the beautiful landscapes of El Lechero, Otavalo and Lago San Pablo.

Day 05
Visit Cotopaxi

One of the highest active snow-caped volcanoes in the world, Cotopaxi’s symmetric cone rises from a vast plain that is home to llamas, condors and herds of wild horses. This amazing adventure includes hiking, and scenic drives through the park’s majestic landscape. We’ll also share information about the different fauna, flora and history of the park. Cotopaxi has its own microclimate and the weather in the area is very unpredictable, so please be prepared with warm clothes.

Day 06
Visit Quilotoa Lagoon

Enjoy beautiful views of the Andes on the ride to Quilotoa lagoon, where we’ll pass through the ancient canyon of Zumbagua and many towns and farmlands. We will continue to visit an indigenous home where you have the opportunity to interact with the local people. The tour concludes with an option to hike down into an extinct volcano crater to Quilotoa Lagoon, a unique sparkling emerald lake. The return hike is steep and takes approximately one hour, with the option of renting a mule with extra cost.

Day 07
Visit Baños de Agua Santa

Our guide will pick you up from your hotel. Beautiful waterfalls and lush forests surround the tranquil town of Baños. Baños de Agua Santa, also known as Baños, is a city in eastern Tungurahua province, in central Ecuador. Baños is one of the most popular cities in Tungurahua for adventure and tourism. It is known as the “Gateway to the Amazon” as it is located on the Pastaza River in the High Amazon Basin. The city is a major religious center, as most Catholics believers say that the Virgin Mary appeared nearby the waterfalls to protect the city from natural disasters. The city is intimately linked with the highly active Tungurahua volcano. The city itself boasts a beautiful Central Park and waterfalls that include the magical “Pailón del Diablo” and “Manto de la Novia”.

Day 08
Transfer to the airport flight back home

We will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to the airport.
