The Amazon is the ideal place to enjoy camping outdoors. Nothing beats sleeping in the forest with stunning views and the chance to see the diverse species up close. For environment and adventure lovers and those interested in Latin America’s marvel, this is a must-do.
Camping style: living in ecological cabins
Here, in the Amazon rainforest, discovery and adventure continue. The entrance is neither difficult nor boring for tourists, as they can enjoy camping in the open air. All thanks to the ecological lodges strategically located in the middle of the forest.
While camping in the Amazon rainforest seems fun and adventurous, preparing for the climate and wildlife is a real challenge. That is where our lodges take center stage. These are located in the most important protected areas of the Amazon such as Cuyabeno, Yasuní, and the Napo River, designed to offer an immersive experience, of course without leaving aside the comfort and security that tourists look for in accommodation.
Cultural camping with the Waorani
This journey through the Amazon in the indigenous |Waorani community of Bameno offers an in-depth experience in the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon and the traditional way of life of the Waorani.
Tourists may explore rainforest sceneries and learn about Waorani culture, a strong spiritual connection with the forest, alongside community members.
Natural camping expedition
This is our hardest trip in the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador, it includes camping in the Cuyabeno Reserve, deep sites. The tour travels through the high and low areas of the reserve, canoeing the Cuyabeno and Aguarico rivers to the Peruvian border and discovering the Lagartococha lakes. You will visit native communities, stay in traditional open thatched cabins and tents in shelters deep in the forest (all beds/tents are equipped with mosquito nets).
Activities beyond camping
Camping in the Amazon is more than just sleeping in the woods; it’s a daily adventure. Tourists can do activities in the surroundings that will allow them to witness from a better angle the biodiversity that nature has. Some of the activities are:
- Night hikes: Dawn in the Amazon is a great place to explore and find things you can’t see during the day. With a local guide, you will enjoy the insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and reptiles you will find in an hour’s walk in the dark forest.
- Canoe rides at sunset: An experience not to be missed is to navigate the lagoons and rivers of the Amazon during the day. Beautiful landscapes, nature noises and the possibility of seeing pink dolphins swimming nearby will make your trip unforgettable.
- Visit local communities: As part of your tour through the Amazon rainforest, the Lodges offer the opportunity to live with indigenous communities and learn about their lives and traditions. It’s a unique opportunity to learn how to survive with the forest and appreciate their diverse cultures and traditions.
