One of the aspects to consider when embarking on a trip is the sustainability of the destination. This translates to the importance of protecting nature and its surrounding environment. This action is known as ecotourism. However, for a place to have this characteristic, it must have a management plan, which is the result of collaborative work between people (communities) in order to maintain sustainability within a natural space.
In this case, the indigenous communities of the Ecuadorian Amazon have faced several challenges ranging from undergoing a transformation through the transglobalization of oil (1967) to the new current models (social, cultural, and technological). That, without a doubt, for our country marks a before and after to strengthen the activity of generating sustainable ecotourism.
THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING A RENEWABLE OPTION
Under this approach, the importance of ecological tourism within the country is considered as a unique and distinct product, in addition to promoting processes of preservation and revitalization of cultural expressions. Therefore, together with Responsible Travel, when carrying out activities, acquire another role and priorities, where they participate, formulate, and apply national and regional development programs taking into account the proper management of natural resources.
However, the opportunity to have a biosphere reserve like the Amazon allows communities to establish methods in pursuit of socio-economic improvement. This plan translates into self-management through NGOs, which provide the necessary support to have efficient “logistics” within the territory.

- Deculturalization of the destination
- Economic dependence on activity.
CASES OF TRANSFORMATIONS IN COMMUNITIES
- Waorani Community
- Zapara Community
- Napo Wild Live Center
- Napo Cultural Center
- Sacha Lodge
- Sani Lodge
- Wao Eco Glamp
CONCLUSION
Ecotourism has great potential to raise the quality of life of local communities and safeguard ecosystems. However, it also involves dangers that must be managed with caution.
