Amazon and Andes in Ecuador

Ecuador Amazon & Andes region (12 days)

The Ecuador Andes are a majestic mountain range that runs through the heart of the country, providing a dramatic backdrop for a variety of outdoor activities. This region is known for its stunning landscapes, picturesque villages, and vibrant indigenous cultures. Visitors can enjoy hiking, horseback riding, and exploring charming towns like Otavalo, known for its colorful markets.

The Andes are also home to some of the most impressive volcanoes in South America. Cotopaxi, one of the highest active volcanoes in the world, offers incredible trekking opportunities and awe-inspiring views. Chimborazo, the tallest peak in Ecuador, provides a challenging climb and a chance to stand closer to the sun than at any other point on Earth due to its equatorial bulge.

The Ecuador Amazon is a vast and diverse ecosystem that is home to an incredible array of wildlife and plant species. The Amazon rainforest, with its dense canopy and winding rivers, offers a completely different experience from the highlands of the Andes. Visitors can take guided tours to explore the jungle, spot exotic animals, and learn about the rich biodiversity and indigenous cultures of the region.

Staying at eco-lodges in the Amazon allows you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the rainforest while contributing to sustainable tourism practices. The Amazon is accessible year-round, but the best time to visit is during the dry season, from June to November, when wildlife sightings are more frequent.
